Christian Bentley, M.D.
Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr. Bentley’s goal as an orthopedic surgeon is to be an educator as well as a technician. He believes that surgery is always the LAST option, but sometimes it’s the BEST option. The complaints that patients bring to his office may be treated non-operatively or may require complex management. Dr. Bentley’s sub-specialty is arthroscopy and sports medicine. The majority of the patients he treats are active individuals who have knee or shoulder problems. Arthroscopic surgery allows for treatment of a wide variety of joint problems to be treated in a minimally invasive fashion. Examples of conditions that he has treated arthroscopically would include knee cartilage and ligament disorders as well as shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, and mechanical impingement. Joint replacement surgery is performed only in extreme cases of arthritis that have failed conservative management. He also performs state–of–the–art cartilage restoration procedures in appropriate candidates.
Dr. Bentley has been in practice for twelve years, and ten years in North County. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at UCSD. Dr. Bentley’s residency training and medical school were at Rush-Presbyterian Hospital in downtown Chicago. Prior to this, he completed his BA at UC Santa Cruz after growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area.
