Supraja Thota, M.D.
Board Certified Internal Medicine
Dr. Supraja Thota is an experienced internal medicine physician who recently transitioned from her role at UC San Diego to open her own private practice in Mira Mesa, San Diego. With over 11 years of clinical experience, she served as an Attending Physician in the Division of Hospital Medicine at UC San Diego from 2017 to 2024. Dr. Thota also held leadership roles as Chief Medical Resident and Resident Doctor in Internal Medicine at UC San Diego, where she honed her clinical and teaching skills.
Dr. Thota works closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care for individuals with complex neurological conditions, including TBI. A graduate of Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Thota completed her medical degree following a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology from Boston University. Now in private practice, she is dedicated to providing personalized, high-quality care to her patients in the San Diego area, focusing on empowering individuals with comprehensive health management.

Jon Franks, D.C.
Dr. Jon Franks has been an athlete all his life and understands pain, having broken his back in 1985. He has served as team chiropractor and strength coach for UCLA basketball under the legendary Walt Hazzard. He also worked with the pro volleyball tour for a number of years.
Combining specific exercises and stretches with traditional Chiropractic is the brainchild of Dr. Franks that allows his patients to achieve a balanced health target unachievable solely by manipulation alone. Lifeforce Sports Chiropractic offers same-day or next-day appointments and detailed med/legal evaluations completed within two weeks of patient discharge.
Dr. Franks also worked with the US Olympic boxing team in the 84 Olympics, as well as6 other countries including Italy, and was offered the Boston Celtics training job in 1987 but opted to stay in southern California.

Jan M. Eckermann, M.D.

Dr. Jan M. Eckermann is a board-certified neurosurgeon with over a decade of experience in managing complex neurosurgical cases. Specializing in the surgical treatment of chronic low back and leg pain, he has successfully performed a wide range of neurosurgical procedures addressing various diseases of the brain and spine.
A recognized national expert in neuromodulation, Dr. Eckermann is passionate about education and frequently conducts seminars and hands-on courses on spinal cord stimulation. His commitment to advancing neurosurgical practices is evident in his pursuit of innovations aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of procedures; he holds more than 20 patents for neurosurgical devices.
Dr. Eckermann earned his medical degree and completed his residency at Loma Linda University. Michael Elliott, Ph.D.
Neuropsychologist
Dr. Michael Elliott is a seasoned neuropsychologist with over 26 years of experience in private practice, specializing in treating individuals, couples, and families. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from the United States International University. As a dedicated educator, Dr. Elliott serves as core faculty in the Master’s in Counseling Psychology program, where he also has a rich history of leadership as a former President of the Academic Senate and a member of the Senate Leadership Committee.
A Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Dr. Elliott is also a Clinical Member of both the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the American Association of University Professors. He is the Founding Director of the nationally recognized Auxiliary Studies Program in Orange County, California, which supports secondary school students with learning and behavior disorders.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Elliott is an engaging speaker and workshop leader, having presented at various prestigious conferences, including the American Psychological Association. His publications include influential articles such as “The Art and Soul of Couples and Family Therapy” in The Therapist and “The Unmotivated Child: A Crisis in Perception” in The Sky Is The Limit, a journal for students with learning disabilities. He is currently finalizing his first book, Philosophic Psychology: Counseling for the Cultural Crisis.

Anshu Gupta, M.D.
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Anshu Gupta specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery, particularly procedures to treat facial and hand injuries, birth defects and deformities due to cancer. He also treats burns, scars and dog bite injuries. Dr. Gupta actively researches microsurgery, breast reconstruction and minimally invasive endoscopic techniques. His extensive training helps him personalize care to each patient’s individual needs.
Dr. Gupta earned his medical degree from Government Medical College in India (accredited by the World Health Organization), and then went on to complete his residency in general surgery at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield and his plastic surgery fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine. He also completed externships for trauma surgery, surgical oncology and general surgery from University of California, San Diego and an externship in microsurgery at Buncke Clinic in San Francisco, as well as an externship in Plastic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
In 2009, Dr. Gupta opened his private practice in Encinitas where he splits his time between plastic and reconstructive surgery anddoing procedures at Scripps La Jolla, Scripps Encinitas, Tri City Hospital and Sharp Hospital and various surgery centers.
Dr. Gupta has always believed in giving back to the community and underprivileged communities around the globe, and spent time at the El Salvador Mission operating and offering patient care for children suffering from acute burns, scar contractures, cleft lips and cleft palates, syndactyly, club hand and traumatic injuries. His role in this mission was to establish a burn unit in the hospital and to train the staff and fellows.

Sarah Alfon, D.C. is a Doctor of Chiropractic and hardworking healthcare leader with 8+ years of experience in Chiropractic Care. She completed her Bachelor in Science and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA in February of 2015.

Dr. Thomas Schweller, MD, is triple board certified neurologist in Neurology & Psychiatry, Pediatrics and Electroencephalogram (EEG). He is also a qualified medical evaluator (QME), independent medical examiner (IME) and agreed medical examiner (AME).
Dr. Schweller received his Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and completed is pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and his fellowship in Neurology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
In 1988, Dr. Schweller began his private practice in San Diego which has consisted of private patients, AME’s, QME’s and independent medical examinations for the Department of Social Services, Social Security in neurology and pediatrics. He also served a clinical teaching appointment in the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Neurology at Mercy Hospital, San Diego. Dr. Schweller has privileges at Scripps Mercy Hospital.
