PHIL GALLO, L.Ac, MS, CES, GFS
Founder, Acu-Fit | Sports Acupuncture • Corrective Exercise • Performance & Longevity
Phil Gallo is a North County San Diego native, California Licensed Acupuncturist, conditioning coach, and founder of Acu-Fit. With more than 30 years of experience in health, fitness, human movement, Phil has built his career around one central pursuit: helping people move better, live healthier, recover stronger, and continue doing the things they love.
Phil holds a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, with a focus on sports medicine acupuncture and corrective exercise. His approach combines Eastern medicine with biomechanics and human movement to help reduce pain, restore function, and improve long term performance.
But Phil’s understanding of the body did not begin in a classroom.
A lifelong competitive multi-sport athlete and surfer, Phil’s fascination with human performance began through his own pursuit of becoming a better athlete. That passion led him into personal training, strength and conditioning at age 23. An unexpected introduction to acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine ultimately changed the direction of his career and gave him another powerful way to understand pain, recovery, and human performance.
Over the decades, Phil’s philosophy has also been shaped by his own experiences with significant injuries and physical setbacks. They reinforced a principle that remains at the center of Acu-Fit today: treat the individual, not simply the symptom.
Phil takes the time to listen, assess how the body moves, identify contributing factors, and develop a plan designed around the person in front of him. Whether working with an injured athlete, an active adult dealing with chronic pain, or someone determined to remain strong and capable as they age, the objective is bigger than temporary relief. It is to restore function, build resilience, and create lasting improvement.
Surfing remains one of Phil’s greatest passions and a reflection of his approach to health and life. The ocean taught him that performance requires awareness, adaptability, patience, and respect for fundamentals. Those same principles influence how he works with his patients and athletes today.
For Phil, health is not simply the absence of pain. It is the ability to move, perform, recover, and keep pursuing what matters to you at every stage of life.
