Mark Schoemann, M.D.

Board Certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon/ Hand Surgeon

Dr. Mark Schoemann earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine, and then went on to complete his residency in general surgery at University of Rochester in New York and his plastic surgery residency at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.  He also completed a fellowship in Craniofacial & Pediatric Plastic Surgery from Emory – Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Dr. Schoemann has extensive experience working as a reconstructive surgeon and hand surgeon, and served as Medical Director at the Carilion Clinic Craniofacial Center at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, Virginia.

In 2016, Dr. Schoemann moved to San Diego and opened his private practice in La Jolla where he split his time between reconstructive surgery/ pediatric surgery and ER Call at Scripps La Jolla, Scripps Encinitas and Scripps Green with his cosmetic surgery center.

Dr. Schoemann has always believed in giving back to the community and underprivileged communities around the globe, and moved to India for a year to take the position of Medical Director and Chief of Plastic Surgery for Operation Smile at the Guwahati Comprehensive Cleft Care Centre in Assam, India.

Rakhesh Guttikonda, D.O.
Board Certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon/ Hand Surgeon

Rakhesh Guttikonda, DO earned his degree from Kansas City University School of Medicine and Biosciences. He then completed his residency in general surgery, and fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Saint Barnabas Hospital in New York City. In the course of his training Dr. Guttikonda became a gifted hand surgeon. After years of studying natural medicine through his Osteopathic training, Dr. Guttikonda has learned to combine this expertise with his plastic and reconstructive training to provide the best and most innovative care to his patients.

“Giving Back” is also a focus for Dr. Guttikonda. It began in Medical school when he took part in a program providing free medical screening care to inner city children. He has also worked with DOCARE providing needed healthcare to primitive and isolated populations in the remote areas of Latin America. He firmly believes that physicians should contribute to the community and offer their services when available.
